Vaccines Provided Free by NHS Scotland
The following travel vaccines are provided free for residents of Scotland planning to travel abroad. These vaccinations are provided free because they protect against diseases thought to represent the greatest risk to public health if they were brought into the country.
Polio
Typhoid
Hepatitis A
Cholera
Ideally, you should receive any vaccinations 8 weeks before your trip to ensure they take full effect before you go abroad.
The vaccinations you need will depend on:
The country you are going to
Your accommodation
How long you will stay
What you will be doing
Your general health
As is the case throughout Scotland, not all medical practices in Dumfries and Galloway provide travel vaccination. Instead, you should contact your local participating medical practice directly to book a vaccination appointment.
You can find the contact details of participating medical practices in Dumfries and Galloway offering travel vaccination in the list above.
You will likely need to request a copy of your immunisation history to assess what vaccines you require for travel. To request this please collect and complete and SARs form from reception to allow us to action this request.
Hard of Hearing Group
Do you need help with your NHS hearing aid?
It can take some time to get used to hearing aids, getting used to how to manage your hearing aids, and getting used to new sounds.
The Hard of Hearing Group have trained volunteers who can provide help and support with the following:
- Tubing, minor repairs, ear mould cleaning and battery replacement;
- Advice on how to clean your hearing aids and how to get the most out of your hearing aids;
- Information and signposting to other services;
- Introduction to other useful equipment.
Drop in sessions are held at the Town Hall, High street, Lockerbie.
10am – 12 noon, the first Wednesday of every month.
Child Health Clinic
An immunisation clinic is held every Thursday between 1.30 pm and 4 pm. This clinic is run by a visiting Immunisation Nurse Specialist and is by appointment only.
For all developmental checks, advice and any other health visitor service, please contact your health visitor directly on 01576 205 531.
We strongly recommend that all children are fully immunised if possible. You should arrange an appointment to attend the child health clinic either when you receive a reminder from the Health Board or when advised by your health visitor.
Asthma and COPD
The respiratory clinics are run by our practice nurses in conjunction with the doctors. The nurse reviews all patients with asthma and related diseases. By being seen regularly and following advice, you can minimise your symptoms.
If you have any problems with your regular appointments, you can arrange a telephone consultation with the nurse to discuss your condition.
